reaching

Last night I fell asleep laying in bed with the T.V. on. I never do that. But Naki always did. So it was the strangest experience last night when I awoke, heard the T.V. lightly in the background and saw the room lit up from it, and did what I always did. I rolled over and reached for him. I haven't done that ever. I've always known he was gone and somehow just knew even in my sleep that he wasn't beside me. I can't seem to find the words to explain how that felt last night, but it was a quick awakening when my hand rested on empty and cold sheets instead of his always warm and massive arm, leg, or chest. It didn't exactly make me sad so to speak, but just surprised me that I had the ability to still do what I'd always done after not doing it for over a year. I guess some habits are hard to break.

  1. You don't know me, but I was up late updating my blog and when I finished I clicked that "next blog" button and your's was the next blog. I'm home without my husband tonight because he's at the Klondike campout with our oldest son. I wasn't going to bed yet because I don't like to sleep alone either. I have been reading your blog and bawling for the past 2 hours (sorry, I hope that doesn't freak you out). My tears have been for your loss and your girls' loss, but they have also been for my own realization that I don't fully appreciate what I have, and that I could lose it suddenly as you did. I have also cried tears of joy for the gospel of Jesus Christ and the reality of eternal families. I have cried tears of hope and marveled at your strength and faith as you face each challenge and manage to write about it! I've cried tears of gratitude for all my blessings and now count knowing your story as one of them. Your example will forever be a source of strength for me as I face my own challenges. Thank you for sharing!
