Ane is showing signs that her ear might not be hurting her as much. Yesterday was relatively relaxed, as I spent the majority of the day outside planting all my planters and potting all my pots while the kids ran around in the backyard, imagining and getting dirty all at the same time. The night before that Eli woke up screaming and grabbing at her ears, yelling that she was pretty sure that now she had "ear nafections" too. So after my yardwork yesterday was done we ran to the grocery store to stock up on more children's motrin. Now I know why I was prompted to grab an extra bottle...
This morning Malia was collapsing the girls' daybed that she slept in beside Eva last night. It was her first time collapsing it, and Ane and Eva were both sitting on the bed for a fun little ride as she put it down. It happened a bit quicker than Malia had anticipated, resulting in Ane losing her balance and landing with both front teeth on the top portion of the daybed's solid hard metal frame. I heard the painful cries and immediately went running to the source. I was doing the usual inspection, searching for goose eggs, bloody noses, puffy lips, or bloody tongues, etc. I couldn't find anything! On closer inspection I discovered that the bottoms of her top two front teeth looked a bit uneven, and there was CSI-like evidence of scraped metal on the bottoms of them...hardly noticeable, but there. So, time to up the doses of motrin. Lucky for us, we already have a scheduled dentist checkup on Monday at 8:00. No coincidence, I'm sure.

Oh Abby, OUCH, when you were writing it and said Ane hit her mouth and her teeth, I went into shock, the pain I was feeling, I could just see it all happening. OUCH, I just about freaked out because I was thinking your next words were going to be she knocked out hte front teeth. OUCH OUCH OUCH, I am just glad that it is just chipped and not knocked out.

Run, RUN to The Good Earth. They have some amazing ear drops called Dial Herbs concentrated herbal tincture "E-3 oil". It has olive oil, garlic, mullein, and lobelia tincture. It's $16 for probably a lifetime supply for your fam. It's similar to what my holistic sister with the 7 kids has been using for 15 years for every ear infection that has dared to raise its head in her family. It slams the ear infections overnight and we have used it over here as well. I'm a total convert. Faster than antibiotics and cheaper than a co-pay. Even if you can't tell for sure (if you don't own an otoscope, for example; I don't own one), there is certainly nothing wrong with using it "just to be sure" and it will cure whatever might be brewing at the same time. It's harmless to everything except ear infections and it's powerful stuff. Anyway, it might be worth a shot. I'm completely converted over here after using it on Crew and after my sister's experience and that from several other friends who are nervously testing holistic remedies only to be WOWed by the power of garlic in the ears. ReplyDeleteooooo...I love the holistic suggestion...way better than what they did when I was a kid...which, by the way, worked... They blew cigerette smoke in the ears which soothed the pain immediately...Love, mom/gma
